DSM-5 Update Part 2: Using the DSM-5 in Clinical Practice
PRESENTED BY: Dr. Michael Lee Zwiers
WHEN: Monday, August 18, 2014
LOCATION: Calgary, AB (Ambrose University College)
This interactive clinical skills workshop offers a hands-on approach to support clinicians as they transition to using the DSM-5. In order to make the DSM-5 manageable, participants will be introduced to a semi-structured screening interview that covers all key areas of the DSM-5, and which can be used across the lifespan. Participants will have the opportunity to practice using the screening instrument through partner work and will receive a copy of the Screening Interview for the DSM-5 (SID-5) for personal use. Participants will also have the opportunity to extend their working knowledge of the DSM-5 through applied case-studies with a range of diagnostic entities that highlight changes in DSM-5. Participants will identify either an adult client focus or child/youth client focus for small-group case studies.
NOTE: This workshop is intended for psychologists who have taken the Part 1 DSM-5 workshop (currently available through CPA) OR who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge.

DSM-5 Update Part 3: Differential Diagnosis with the DSM-5
PRESENTED BY: Dr. Michael Lee Zwiers
WHEN: Tuesday, August 19, 2014
LOCATION: Calgary, AB (Ambrose University College)
The workshop uses an applied case study approach to help participants expand their practical knowledge of the DSM-5 with a range of diagnostic presentations. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use the Semi-structured Diagnostic Interview for the DSM-5 (S-DID-5), which is a detailed follow-up interview to the SID-5. The S-DID-5 is designed to make the DSM-5 manageable, and covers all of the Mental Health Disorders in the DSM-5. This instrument does not replace the DSM-5 manual, but will help clinicians to use the DSM-5 more easily and effectively. Workshop participants will receive a copy of the comprehensive clinical interview for personal use. Participants will identify either an adult client focus or child/youth client focus for small-group case studies.
NOTE: This workshop is intended for psychologists who have taken the Part 2 DSM-5 workshop.
